fake mustaches

Jude brought these stick-on mustaches back with him from his trip to DC, and they decided to wear them as part of their weekly boy-night while I am at Bible study.
Leo was the most tolerant of the adhesive.
I think he could give the Pringles logo a run for his money!

what's in a name?

Discussing the fact that Leo's given name is Leonard, Joseph explained, "That's what we call him when he's in trouble, LEONARD!"

mental picture

worth remembering:
Leo decked out in his Superman shirt and red boots, riding in the stroller to pick-up Joseph from school, arms extended outward, "Faster, I am flying!"

research

Jude spent a few days in Washington DC meeting with some potential donors, touring churches and picking the brain of Archbishop DiNoia, a Dominican who is also the Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, about the interior design of the new St. Thomas Aquinas Church!

praying mantis project

The kids of the cul-de-sac captured this praying mantis and then worked together to build it a habitat in the wagon, a definite step up from the peanut butter jar!

planes and prairies

This weekend we headed out to Nine-Mile Prairie for the University's "Planes and Prairies."  We picniced and watched the airshow planes overhead.
Then we went on a tour of the old military bunkers with a historian,
and through the prairie with a naturalist.
Joseph with some Indian grass the guide picked.
No wonder the pioneer children got lots in the grasses!

prayers please

Last month I was finally able to hold steady with my Synthroid prescription (at 125 mcg, up a lot from the original half of a 25 mcg in January!) This month we are thrilled to be expecting! We are praying a perpetual novena to St. Philomena for a healthy pregnancy.
O faithful virgin and glorious martyr, St. Philomena, who works so many miracles on behalf of the poor and sorrowing, have pity on me. Thou knowest the multitude and diversity of my needs. Behold me at thy feet, full of misery, but full of hope. I entreat thy charity, O great saint! Graciously hear me and obtain from God a favorable answer to the request which I now humbly lay before thee ... (Here mention your petition.) I am firmly convinced that through thy merits, through the scorn, the sufferings and the death thou didst endure, united to the merits of the Passion and death of Jesus, thy Spouse, I shall obtain what I ask of thee, and in the joy of my heart I will bless God, who is admirable in His saints.
Amen.

St. Philomena, powerful with God, pray for us!
