swim lessons

The boys took swim lessons at the Y again this summer.  Joseph was a Pike and Leo was in the SKI class with me.  Leo really progressed from simply scooting into the water from the wall to jumping in a few feet with huge splashes!  He even made a solo jump while I was talking to Jude!  Luckily I spotted his wind up and was in right after him!  Joseph's highlight was getting to kayak!  Unfortunately the photos did not turn out :(

The boys were a little more into the inflatables than the game, which was a blow-out 9-0 win against the El Paso Diablos.

celebrate

We celebrated Joseph, Leo and Nicole's birthday with a joint party.  I made a tasty Chocolate Delirium Torte and the boys chose chocolate cupcakes.  They could not choose just one theme so we used  pirate/dinosaur/animal picks.  They wanted the Ice Age represented too but that was a little too far off the beaten path!
Fun times!

normal, kind of

At our mommy and me swim class, Leo likes to plug his ears whenever he floats on his back.  His instructor Amanda commented, "That's almost completely normal."

take-out

As Leo ate his crab rangoon, he came to the cream cheese center and asked excitedly, "Is this the prize?"

wild west birthday

Joseph celebrated his 5th birthday cowboy style!

Everyone was invited to dress for the occasion and made cowboy or cowgirl treat bags.

We played knock-out the bandits,

Prospector (Whose Got the Button?), Pass the Fools Gold (Hot Potato) and Pin the Star on the Sheriff.

Everyone took home rattlesnake eggs (yogurt covered raisins) and cow paddy's (chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookies) along with an assortment of old-time treats, wax pop bottles and root beer barrels.

Joseph wanted marble cake with Neapolitan ice cream.
